Rachel Shapiro

Editor-in-Chief

Rachel graduated with honors from Amherst College with a BA in Economics and Women’s and Gender Studies. She spent this past summer in the New York office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP working on primarily corporate matters. In summer 2012, she interned in the legal department at Microsoft in Redmond, Washington. Prior to law school, Rachel spent two years as a bankruptcy paralegal at Weil. She is currently a student-attorney in the University of Michigan Law School Entrepreneurship Clinic.

Loretta Tracy

Managing Editor

Loretta graduated from the University of Montana with a BS in both Accounting and Finance. She has interned with the United States Senate Committee on Finance and United States Surface Transportation Board. Last summer she worked as a tax associate with EY (Ernst & Young), focusing on state and local and international tax issues. She is currently working as a student attorney with the University of Michigan Law School Entrepreneurship Clinic.

Kail Jethmalani

Executive Production Editor

Kail graduated from Skidmore College in 2009 with a BA in Economics and Government. He has a background in finance, and has lived and worked overseas. In 2012, he interned at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of New York. In 2013, he was a summer associate in the antitrust group of Axinn, Veltrop & Harkrider LLP in New York City. Kail is currently a member of the International Transactions Clinic.

Miguel F. Oria

Executive Articles Editor

Miguel graduated with honors from the University of Florida with a B.A. in Economics.  He spent this past summer working on corporate matters in the New York office of Sullivan & Cromwell LLP. The prior summer, Miguel worked on legal and compliance issues at Centerbridge Partners, L.P., a New York firm focused on private equity and distressed credit investments. Prior to law school, Miguel spent a year working at a securities-litigation firm.

D.J. Hill

Executive Notes Editor

D.J. graduated cum laude from San Diego State University with a B.A. in Economics and Finance.   D.J. spent last summer at a non-profit law firm working primarily on constitutional civil rights litigation.  He is currently working with the Law School’s Transactional Lab, and is the President of the Law School’s Federalist Society chapter.

Matthew Bahleda

Matt graduated summa cum laude from Western Michigan University’s Lee Honors College with a BA in Philosophy and Political Science.  He has interned with the United States Department of Justice in Riverside, California.  Most recently, Matt was a summer associate at the Los Angeles office of O’Melveny & Myers LLP.  Matt is excited to have the opportunity to go back to O’Melveny upon graduation.

Perry Teicher

Curriculum & Symposium Chair

Perry graduated from the University of Michigan in 2007, with a BA in Organizational Studies and Political Science.  He is pursuing a JD/MBA at the University of Michigan Law School and the Ross School of Business focused on social finance and social impact, exploring impact investment strategies linked to local community development. Perry serves as the Director of the Urban Revitalization Investment Circle on the University of Michigan Social Venture Fund and President of Detroit Nation. He also sits on the JDC Entwine National Steering Committee. Perry is part of the ROI community and is a 2013 Ariane de Rothschild Fellow. He served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kazakhstan, from 2007-2009.

Sumit Gupta

Tech Chair

Sumit graduated from the University of Michigan Stephen M. Ross School of Business in 2011 with a BBA, emphasizing in Marketing and Market Research. He spent this past summer working with startup companies in Michigan Law’s Entrepreneurship Clinic. The prior summer, he worked on employment law issues at the Law Offices of Deborah L. Gordon.  He is currently working with Michigan Law’s Transactional Lab.
